It is with the deepest regret that we inform you of the death of our CEO, Phil Isherwood after a short battle with cancer. He leaves a wife, Sue and three children, Nicki, Joanna and Matt.
Phil joined the Nottingham Group in 1984, and was appointed as a Director in 1988. Nottingham Group was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1994 with Phil having the position as Group Sales & Marketing Director. Upon the merger with Philip Harris in October 1998 Phil became Managing Director of the UK Education businesses. Following Findel PLC’s acquisition in 2001 Phil took overall responsibility for overseeing acquisitions and disposals for Findel PLC as a whole and was responsible for business development on behalf of NRS; heading the acquisition of Huntleigh National Care from Huntleigh PLC in November 2005.
Phil oversaw the successful implementation of the company’s first ICES contract in Derby in 1996 and negotiated the transfer of some of the largest ICES contracts in the UK.
Well known in the industry and latterly the Chairman and then President of the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA), Phil was a passionate advocate for independent living and promoted the benefits of outsourcing community equipment services. He devoted time and energy to building NRS Healthcare into what it is today, successfully managing the buy-out of NRS Healthcare from the Findel Group in 2013.
Due to his illness, Phil had not been actively involved in the frontline of the business recently. All of his responsibilities were re-assigned some while ago, and the company’s operations continue to run smoothly. NRS is thriving; just as he planned and wanted.
Each of us not only grieves at the passing of a tremendous, larger than life character who was universally respected but also for the loss his family suffers.
We have lost a dear friend and valued colleague.
