Staff from the Kent depot got into the spirit of Halloween to raise money for one of the local networks of our charity partner – the Carers Trust.

As well as transforming themselves into ghostly ghouls and other spooky characters, the team also made homemade cakes and treats, which all helped them raise £340.

Sharon Nevin, Service Centre Manager for Kent Community Equipment Services, said:

“We had a great ‘Day of the Dead’ and everyone looked amazing. The team all came together and worked really hard, and we’re delighted with the amount we raised.”

Chloe Sweeney, a Customer Service Advisor in the depot, said:

“It is our priority to service the community and we do so passionately. Through this event it was nice to be able to give back something to the community in a different way. We really hope that these funds will help carers and the invaluable work they do.”

James Kirby, is Head of Fundraising and Marketing at Crossroads Care Kent, a local network partner of the Carers Trust and the leading carers charity in the area, where the donations will be received. He said:

“We would like to say a huge thank you for the NRS Healthcare team for their amazing fundraising efforts and for selecting Crossroads Care Kent. It really does mean a lot to us. Their donations will be used to give unpaid carers in Kent a much-needed break. 40 per cent of carers haven’t had a day off in more than a year and 25% for more than five years. These amazing people give everything to help others , so it is vital that we are there to give them some support. “How they use that break is entirely up to them. For some it is a chance to do the shopping, go for a coffee with a friend or attend a health appointment. Others use the opportunity to get some sleep, which is especially important when the person you are caring for is up all night. We are there to ensure carers get the break they need to avoid burning out. Without the support of amazing people like yourselves, we wouldn’t be able to continue the invaluable work we do.”

Crossroads Care Kent delivers care and support for anyone living with the challenges of caring unpaid for a relative or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or who has mental health conditions.
