As part of its ongoing commitment to health and wellbeing, NRS Healthcare has introduced its Wellbeing Ambassadors to all staff across the business.

The launch comes on World Mental Health Day, held on 10th October every year by the World Health Organisation to raise awareness of mental health, with this year’s focus being ‘Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority’.

To date, 45 wellbeing ambassadors have been trained in First Aid for Mental Health and can act as a first point of contact for colleagues and provide support and guidance. Further colleagues have also reached out to offer their support.

The ambassadors form part of a wider Health and Wellbeing strategy with the aim of working with colleagues to adopt a holistic approach to health, safety and wellbeing and integrate health and wellbeing into day-to-day activities which enable us to create a positive and healthy working environment.

Saera Mushtaq, Head of Organisational Learning and Development at NRS Healthcare, said:

“Undoubtedly the best thing about working in the healthcare sector is the fact that our people help make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable people, every day. This can also come coupled with stressful situations. It is important therefore, that our work culture should be a place where colleagues feel valued and taken care of. Our vision and ethos towards Health and Wellness is to work with our colleagues to adopt a holistic approach to health, safety and wellbeing. Our strategy is informed by the recommendations in the Thriving at Work report, to support us to embed good practice across the business. We have signed up to the Mental Health at Work Commitment, which has been curated by Mind and is supported by Heads Together. I’m immensely proud of the work we do, the commitment of our people to make a difference, and the approach and commitment of our Wellbeing Ambassadors. Together we will work to promote a positive, healthy, and thriving workplace.”

To ensure colleagues can access any support they need, a Wellbeing Toolkit, Wellbeing Ambassador network, and online digital playlists and training have been created.

NRS Healthcare also has an Employee Assistance Programme, where colleagues can contact qualified counsellors.
