We are delighted to be celebrating a commendation received for Abigail Johnson, one of our Buckinghamshire TECS (technology enabled care services) team from the Head of Operations of a local private ambulance firm.

Abigail was recently attending an appointment to fit a personal alarm for a lady in her 50's. When she arrived at the appointment she realised that the lady was unresponsive and seriously ill. Abi called 999 and was waiting outside when the ambulance arrived.

Initially the lady was stable but during the transfer to the ambulance she went into cardiac arrest. Abi followed the crew to the ambulance as they started to work on reviving the lady. Abi was asked if she was able and willing to help, initally she assisted with CPR and subsequently helped with the patients airway under instruction.

The patient was successfully resuscitated on the way to ITU and is now doing well.

The Head of Operations said in her commendation:

"I'd can say in all honesty that without Abi's help the outcome would have been a lot different and she definitely helped save this woman's life that day. Can you please pass on my sincere gratitude to Abi. She is an asset to your company"

Abigails great work has earned her a GEM award. GEM - Going the Extra Mile awards is our internal recognition scheme. They are awarded to staff members who have been nominated by their colleagues, customers or the business as a whole. Abigail was one of four winners from a large number of nominations.

Well Done Abigail!
